Happy New Year/Abbie Day!

As the rest of the world ushers in 2011, celebrating this new year with champagne, a Rose Parade and some important college football games, we over here at Chateau de Abbie are having a party of our own commemorating something a little more important to us.

Exactly 4 years ago today someone (who eventually goes on to become her Godmother) called us, letting us know she had just saved a scared little furball that had been running through traffic and was just moments away from being run over by a fast moving car.

Extremely dirty with terribly matted hair and looking like she was in very bad shape, we hurried to the hospital she was at, with a new (some say fabulous) pink jacket from Target in hand to cover her just shaved body.

In good health, but scared to bits, we took that little fuzzball home and after it was apparent we weren’t going to find her original caretakers, decided to name her Abbie and eventually called her our own.

Even though it’s been many years since that day, we are always hoping that we’re giving her a better life than she knew before, and even though everyone else is celebrating something else today, for us it’s Happy Abbie Day all the way.
