Time For Treats

October 27, 2010

One of my favorite daily activities with Abbie has to be treat time, and I’m sure it has to be one of her favorites too.

It doesn’t matter where she is in the house…once she hears the sound of that treat bag opening, Abbie is there within seconds, camping out to make sure she doesn’t miss her chance.

The only downside is now she’s trained to come running whenever she hears any bag opening. But because her Dad is such a softy for that fuzzy face of hers, she still somehow ends up with a treat to enjoy.

Our boys get treats when we leave the house. We throw chicken balls on the floor and while they scurried for them we high tail it so that they don’t realized we left them. We called it “fake love”. Now they know to wait by the back door for them whenever we get ready to leave.

I thought about doing that with Abbie too since she hates it when we leave, but she likes to take her treats, run off with them and eat them alone in another room.

I didn’t want her to think that every time she gets a treat she’s won’t be able to find us for hours when she’s done with it, so now we just say bye to her & tell her “we’ll be back soon.”

That seems to work….although, when we say that now she goes and hides because she doesn’t want t0 see us go or let us give her a quick hug good-bye.

      Abbie’s so complicated.
