Backseat Driver
Abbie always sits in the front seat. If there’s a passenger, usually the agreement is they have to hold onto Abbie if they want to sit up front too. If they don’t, then it’s off to the backseat they go and usually, this is non-negotiable…
There was this one time that it wasn’t an option & Abbie had to sit in the back. Without going into the reasons why, I can tell you that Abbie wasn’t too enthusiastic about that. At first, she thought she was just being placed there temporarily and was going to be moved up front before we got moving.
When she figured out that wasn’t happening, although she was a good sport about it, it didn’t stop our little girl from letting us know how she felt. And every time I looked in my rear view mirror, I got the stare…the stare of an unhappy Abbie. Luckily, it was a short drive because backseat driver Abbie wasn’t much fun to drive around.
2 questions: Was she belted in and did you sleep with one eye open?
We belted her in right before we started moving and from the look on her face every time I looked in my rear-view mirror, I’m glad we had her tied down.
